ADVERTISING POLICIES

The publication of paid advertisements or the inclusion of advertising inserts does not constitute a factual news report nor the opinion of the editors, student staff or Faculty Advisor of The City Collegian.

This newspaper does not discriminate against advertisers based on political, moral, or religious views. The City Collegian will attempt to grant equal access to advertising.

However, this newspaper will not accept advertising which:

  • advertises products that are in violation of any municipal, state or federal law
  • is an attack on personal character or is defamatory
  • may be libelous
  • contains degradations of a racial, ethnic, religious or gender-based manner
  • is obscene
  • includes false information or fraud
  • includes claims that are misleading, unsubstantiated, deceptive or exaggerated
  • does not meet production specifications
  • is from a business with a record of unpaid bills
  • resembles news stories not clearly labeled as ads

The City Collegian assumes no responsibility for errors in ads, but we will attempt to reprint ads if such errors occur.

The City Collegian reserves the right to reject any advertisement(s) at its discretion based on the collective decision of its student editors and Faculty Advisor.

Non-political, pro-club ads on campus may be run for free at the discretion of the student staff and Faculty Advisor as Public Service Announcements to the campus.
